Article brought to you by Cheap Roller Skates for Sale

Have you ever done any of the following when skating? They are all very dangerous practices!

Truck Surfing

Truck surfing or stitching is holding on to the back of a moving vehicle to go faster. This is very dangerous as you may not be able to slow down when the vehicle slows down resulting in a collision with the back of the vehicle. You could also be thrown into the path of on coming vehicles pr onto the road when the vehicle turns, slows down or stops.

Not Wearing Safety Clothing

30% of all skating injuries are to the lower arm or wrist of which 2/3 are fractures. Most of these injuries can be prevented by wearing wrist guards. About 10% of injuries are to the head but these are the most dangerous injuries and can be prevented or drastically reduced by wearing a helmet. Elbow and knee pads are essential to prevent fractures to these parts of the body.

Skating when the Ground is Wet

When the ground is wet or mud or oil are present it is very difficult to control your skates as there is reduced traction and your feet can slide out from underneath.

Skating in the Dark

Avoid skating in the dark if at all possible as you vehicle drivers and others on the road will not be able to see you easily. If you cannot avoid it attach a flashing light to your waistband and helmet and wear reflective clothes.

Wearing Headphones

Do not skate while wearing headphones as you will not be able to hear others on the road including moving vehicles.
